Adhesive Tapes

Adhesive tapes are known by these names as these tapes use adhesives. Adhesives have the ability to hold different surfaces together almost permanently. These adhesive are obtained from animals and plants and some of these are temperature sensitive and some are ready for bonding all the time. The adhesives were used in bandages in the 19th century. Later in the mid of 20th century the science developed so much that glass, metal and other materials were started bonded with the help of adhesives. Now adhesives are used in many things for various joining activities. The best example of modern adhesives is superglue which can work on many materials and fix things up in no time. The adhesive are always strong in liquid form as they can join many things so hard that they can not be separated easily ever again.

The adhesive tapes use adhesive to stick together things in way that they do not lose position by means of a tape. The adhesive tape use a backing material such as paper, plastic, metal, cloth or any like kind thing and it is coated with pressure sensitive adhesive from one or two sides depending upon the type of adhesive tape you using. There are many kinds of adhesive tapes used these days. Some of these include pressure sensitive tapes, water sensitive tapes, heat sensitive tapes, dry wall tapes and many others. There is also double sided adhesive tape available in the market which has the ability to stick from the both sides. These are adhesive tapes that are used to combine different high pressure and low pressure surfaces. They are not easy to place but when they are placed well they are permanent and heavy duty tapes.

The pressure sensitive adhesive tapes are sticky and they can adhere to most of the surfaces without applying much pressure or heating or putting any solvent onto it. Most adhesive tapes are easier to apply even with the help of fingers. There are also dispensers used for applying the tapes neatly. You can use the dispensers when you are using the adhesive tapes at places where you need neatness and convenience at professional levels. There are some tapes that are applied easily and there are some that are applied with a technique to make it useful. On of the most difficult to apply adhesive tapes are adhesive transfer tapes as they are applied in a way that the adhesive is transferred from the tape to the surface. There are sometimes animal based adhesives used on an adhesive tape. This glue is also known as gelatin. These kinds of tapes are usually used for sealing boxes.

There are also kinds of adhesive tapes that are not placed in cold temperatures. You need to heat them up before placing in winters as they are not ready for placements and sticking at temperatures lower then 10 degree Celsius. These types of adhesive tapes are commonly in packaging. There also adhesive tapes known as drywall tapes. These are made up of paper or cloth and are commonly used for making joints between sheets and drywall materials. The adhesive tape is wonderful and very neat tape wherever it is placed. Most tapes are placed in a way that they are not visible after placement as they hide themselves behind the surfaces as they join them from inside. The best example of such kind of adhesive tapes is the magnetic tapes that hold items like the magnet does. The magnetic tape is places in a way that the strips of the tape are cut in two equal pieces and placed at surface and the item each. Later they join each other like a magnet and thus hold the item.
